BATGIRL #29 2014
Her first appearance was in 1961 in Batman #139. But the initial incarnation was Betty Kane. She only appeared seven time before being scrapped.  Batgirl appeared again three years later as Barbara Gordon. This personification appeared in 1967 in Detective Comics #359.
My first experience with Batgirl was the Batman 1967 television show. Batgirl was played by Yvonne Craig. Her fighting style was more like dance moves and she rode a modified Yamaha YDS-53. That included a front splash guard and a purple paint job topped off with lace and a gold lace bow attached to the back of the seat.
Since then Batgirl has gone through many changes. Barbara Gordon was gunned down by the Joker. This left Barbara confined to a wheelchair for several years. Since she could not fight crime physically, she became Oracle. Oracle was the information broker and liaison to crime fighters worldwide.

The Batgirl mantle did not stay vacant for long. Next up for the role was Cassandra Cain in 2000. She was the daughter of David Cain and Lady Shiva. She had been trained since birth to be the world’s greatest assassin. She was given the role by Batman and then later mentored by Barbara Gordon.
The next Batgirl was Stephanie Brown. Brown was the Spoiler and for a short time Robin. She wore the cowl from 2006 to 2011.
Batgirl on the big screen was portrayed by Alicia Silverstone in the 1997 Joel Schumacher abortion BATMAN & ROBIN. The iconic character was renamed as Barbara Wilson; Alfred’s niece. There is so much wrong with this movie. I would say this is the worst Batman movie to date but I have seen THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and I hate that movie with a passion.
Today the Batman world has been rebooted. Barbara is back as the Batgirl and all is right in Gotham.  Unfortunately this is Gotham and the city does not stay quiet for long.

Rick - Russian Bigfoot hunters say they have new evidence proving that Russia has its own yeti, living outside of Moscow.  The proof is marked tree bark.  The bark was found on an uprooted tree only 5km from Zelenograd, Moscow.
The finding Almas(Russian sasquatch) team is Andrei Stroganov, and Igor Burtsev. Burtsev is the leading expert on the Russian “Forest People”. Igor Burtsev has been documenting Sasquatch sightings for over fifty years. He claims to have over 5,000 conformed eyewitness accounts.  They have extracted samples from the bark piece and are sending them to the United States for DNA testing
Burtsev has had DNA test done before on samples that he has found. One test came back as an American Black Bear and another test came back as an unknown human type creature. He cites that this is proof of the Almas existence
The Russian Bigfoot is described as being a lot smaller than its American counterpart. The being is only 6’5” in height but is said to have larger feet than the United States Yeti.  Historic descriptions of the Almas are that of a wild man or maybe the last living descendants of a Neanderthal tribe.

TONY - So, the Bigfoot craze has gone all the way around the world and landed in Russia. In Russia, the big, hairy, “man-like,” creature known as the Almas, apparently has the same cloaking technology as his North American counterpart. There has been no “scientific” evidence to date according to one of Burtsevs’ biggest skeptics Professor Bryan Sykes of the Almas existence . Prof. Sykes has written a book debunking the idea of the creature and calls the Himalayan Yeti a species of Polar Bear.
The interesting thing about this article that caught my attention was the claim that one of the samples that was that of a American Black Bear!? Really? How did that one go unnoticed? Did the bear migrate there? Was it a performing Bear in the circus? Or is the implication that Burtsev is trying to fake all the data? Russia is a vast country with many environments that could contain a yet undiscovered species of primate or missing link.
In a country that allows the disclosure of information from paranormal investigations that the government conducts, I would venture to bet that Mr. Burtsev could be the first person to provide us with the actual “smoking gun” proof of our mutual big, hairy friend and we will finally have that scientific proof that has eluded us for so long. The finding Almas Team better call the B.F.R.O. and let Matt Moneymaker know that he needs to get to Russia so he can share in the discovery of Russias very own BIG FOOT! I wonder what a Russian bigfoot call sounds like?

Steel is John Henry Irons.  His first appearance was in THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #500 back in 1993. Doctor Irons was a college football star and bright engineer.  After college he went to work for AmerTek Industries. He faked his own death when he found out that the military weapons he had designed were sold to street gangs.  He moved from Washington DC to Metropolis where he worked under the radar as a construction worker..

One day while working on top of a skyscraper he fell off during a rescue of a fellow riveter. He was then rescued by Superman. While thanking Superman, he was told to “live a life worth saving”.  Later while Superman was fighting Doomsday John Henry Irons repaid Superman’s heroism and helped out using only a Sledgehammer. He was injured and buried alive during the brawl.

When he recovered from his injuries he found that Superman had been killed by Doomsday. He decided that the world needed a Superman. He would payback The Man of Steel by becoming a man of steel.  He went to work building a suit of armor. The armor would protect him and hide his identity. He included rocket boots for flight and rivet guns to subdue his enemies. He integrated in his arsenal the sledgehammer to honor his namesake John Henry, of American folklore.

Later when Superman returned he gave Steel permission to wear the Superman emblem. Saying he would be proud if John Henry Irons continued as a Superman. He then proceeded to tell Steel that Superman is more of an idea than a person and that he has earned the right to wear the S.
