Tony - Every year Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu holds a memorial Seminar to honor our teacher’s instructor, Grandmaster Moses Powell, the founder and creator of Sanuces Ryu Ju-Jitsu. This seminar brings together all past and present teachers from both Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu and Sanuces Ryu Ju-Jitsu. Instructors and students from various other disciplines also attend. The seminar consists of three days of self-defense techniques. The classes cover empty hand attacks and weapons defense, where there is always a theme and each theme addresses a particular scenario or a specific discipline.
Grandmaster Philip Chenique, creator and founder of Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu hosts these events at 2091 West 76th Street Hialeah Gardens, Florida, 33016. This is the headquarters of the Atemi-Ryu System. Grandmaster Chenique is one of Grandmaster Moses Powell’s first 10th degree black belts. He carries on the memory of his late teacher sharing this knowledge with his students both locally and abroad. Students come from all over the country each year to celebrate the memory of Doctor Moses Powell. They also come to learn some of the greatest martial arts techniques taught by Doctor Philip Chenique.
The Atemi-Ryu Ju-Jitsu system has been recognized by the U.S. military. The United States Army has called this organization one of the most effective combative systems ever taught to U.S. soldiers. Atemi Ryu Ju-jitsu trained soldiers have used the system in the capturing of insurgents during the war in Afghanistan. These techniques have also been taught to various law enforcement agencies across the nation.
Those who attend the seminar, whether they are beginners or advanced students always walk away with a great lasting experience. Attendees often obtain a set of new techniques to add to their inventory. All are urged to pass on these teachings to new generations so that the memory of Doctor Moses Powell will live on, indefinitely.
